We don't have a video for this one, and it's one of the most important parts of AUI. All AUI users have a collection of preferences, or settings, set in place when they log in — that's really what the login process is for.

The collection has some information about the user: first name, last name, login password, blind / VI / sighted, etc.

And quite a bit about just how AUI should act: the keyboard mode; the display characteristics; and the gender, personality, volume, and speech rate of both the narrator and the chanter can all be customized by the users.

In addition, many of the activities have prefs, too, that can change things just while that activity is happening. So, for example, a speech rate could be set very fast for most things, but slowed way down for text entry.
